Jenn Kenning is a trailblazer, collaborator and change-maker who has quickly risen to become one of the most recognized voices in impact investing. Since the earliest days of her career as a wealth manager while she was living in Los Angeles, Jenn was struck by the dichotomy between the wealth she managed during the day and the lack of access
to capital and opportunity that affected so many of the people she saw on the streets at night.
Jenn’s curiosity and strong personal conviction led her to embark on a global quest to find new ways to bridge the gap between scarcity and abundance. Traveling to over 50 countries to gain first-hand knowledge of the kinds of complex social and environmental challenges that were holding communities back, Jenn quickly realized that finding lasting solutions to society’s biggest challenges would take more than philanthropy and good intentions. It called for a new solution.
Jenn co-founded Align Impact in 2014 on the conviction that we need to align the wealth management process with our values to optimize our financial system, and to do this we needed to get all of the actors across the financial spectrum working together to improve outcomes. Align blends a highly sophisticated approach to wealth management
with a deep understanding of the drivers of social change to create this systems change.
As an independent fiduciary, Align works alongside financial advisors, institutions, foundations and directly advises individual clients and their family offices, all in the service of integrating impact investments into the broader wealth management strategy. Align specializes in building customized impact portfolios designed to deliver the same risk adjusted return as best-in-class, globally diversified asset management strategies while enabling capital to flow to companies and funds working to address the world’s greatest challenges.
Jenn began her career in 2002 as a wealth manager at Aspiriant, one of the largest independent registered investment advisory firms in the country, where she was a partner of the firm, a Director in Wealth Management, and a member of the firm’s Board of Directors until she left to co-found Align.
Jenn has been recognized many times for her contributions to impact investing. In 2017, Jenn was selected as one of the 16 Innovators as part of InvestmentNews’ “Icons and Innovators” feature.
